Lilla Båtskär

Lilla Båtskär although a small island, is full of history. Often called Nyhamn there has been a pilotstation, a iron ore mine and today the base for a windmillpark. We go by boat for about 20 minutes. We go ashore and get a guided tour through the islands history. We visit the old pilotstation and enjoy nature and the birdlife on the island. If we go for a Lågskär tour we usually make a stop here.

Kobba Klintar

Kobba Klintar is an old pilotstation established in 1862 at the inlet to Mariehamn. Today Kobba Klintar is a popular summer destination for turists and locals. During the summer season you get food and beverages. We visit the old pilotstation and get a guided tour through its history then and now.

Stora Båtskär Nyhet 2021

Right next to Lilla Båtskär you find Stora Båtskär, with beautiful scenery. Here was the pilotstation before it moved to Lilla Båtskär in the 1940. The pilotstation is still here and is beeing renovated. Also a nature trail is being built on island.

Rödhamn

The beautiful Rödhamn is situated on the brink to the open sea. Old pilotstation, radiobeacon and safe harbour for seafarers through history. Today the radiobeacon is a museum and the island is a popular guestharbour. In the boathouse in the harbour you find Cafe Sjöboden where Anette makes homemade bread and food. Anette is also a artist and in the restaurant you can enjoy here beautiful paintings. If you want to have dinner or lunch in a genuin and romantic enviroment, this is the place. Its only a 20 min boatride from Mariehamn.

Lågskär Lighthouse

The legendary Lågskär Lighthouse is situated in its own archipelgo in the middle of the sea. We visit the lighthouse and enjoy the extrodinary scenery. The island is a birdwatching-paradise and today a station for the ornithological society. To visit Lågskär is very weather dependent.

Marhällan Lighthouse

According to the skipper Marhällan Lighthouse is one of the most beautiful Lighthouses. Situated on a bare rock next to Kobba Klintar, Marhällan has guided seafahrers since 1938. Colorful and symbolic to many locals. When you see Marhällan you know that you are soon home.

Hertronklubb

Hertronklubb-island is situated in the inlet to Mariehamn. Best known for the tragic disaster one december night in 1933 when the sailship Plus sank right next to the island. In memory of the sailors there is a memorial stone on the island.

Södra Nyhamns klubb

The skippers own paradise. Here my family has the summercabin. Not an unusual thing on Åland to own a private island! The island was very activ during the WW1 and WW"2. Today only ruins are left of the strucktures that was built during the war. We get a guided tour of the history and get to visit a local summerparadise.

Flötjan Lighthouse

The current lighthouse on Flötjan (or Flöttjan) has been guiding seafahrers through the dangerous waters arround Lågskär since 1953. An impressiv lighthous as it stand in the middle o the open sea on a rock. A visit here is very weatherdependant.
